Dexon’s NDT Turbine Inspection Services

What is Turbine Inspection and Why is it Important?

Turbine inspection is the process of assessing the condition of critical turbine components such as blades, rotors, casings, and welds to detect signs of wear, corrosion, and structural defects. Regular inspections are essential for preventing unexpected failures, maintaining operational efficiency, and extending the lifespan of turbines.

How Dexon's Turbine Inspection Tools Ensure the Integrity of the Turbine

Dexon Technology provides a comprehensive range of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods designed to detect early-stage defects with high precision. Our inspection suite includes:

  1. Ultrasonic Testing (UT): Uses high-frequency sound waves to detect internal defects, cracks, and thickness variations in turbine blades, rotors, and casings, with Phased Array UT (PAUT) and TOFD offering enhanced imaging.

  2. Eddy Current Testing (ECT): Detects surface and near-surface cracks in turbine blades and discs, especially in non-ferromagnetic materials, and is ideal for fatigue crack detection in aerospace and power plant turbines.

  3. Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI): Used for surface and subsurface crack detection in ferromagnetic components like turbine shafts, rotors, and steel casings, making it effective for fatigue crack identification.

  4. Dye Penetrant Testing (PT/LPI): A liquid dye method for surface crack detection in non-ferromagnetic components like titanium and stainless steel turbine blades, revealing hairline cracks and porosity.

  5. Radiographic Testing (RT): Uses X-ray or gamma rays to detect internal voids, inclusions, and casting defects in turbine blades, rotors, and housings, with digital radiography (DR) improving resolution.

  6. Remote Visual Inspection (RVI): Uses borescopes, videoscopes, and drones to visually inspect internal turbine components for wear, erosion, and deposits in areas inaccessible to direct inspection.

Each method is selected based on material type, defect location, and inspection requirements to ensure turbine safety and efficiency.
