Dexon Joins Final Inspection of Offshore Tanker Prior to Handover
One of Thailand’s leading floating oil storage and maintenance service providers entrusted Dexon Technology to inspect a Floating Storage and Offloading vessel (FSO).
The inspection was the final step prior to officially handing the vessel over to a major oil and gas production company.
The inspection was both complex and time-sensitive.
Such operations typically take over 1.5 years to complete, Dexon's expert engineering team—recognized by Bureau Veritas (BV Class)—successfully completed the entire process in just one month.
The extremely accelerated timeline was necessary to keep the ownership transfer on schedule.
The inspection included a full assessment of the vessel’s structural integrity and all key operational systems, including:
• Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) such as ultrasonic thickness measurements, visual inspections, and magnetic particle inspection across the vessel’s primary structure
• Evaluation of storage tanks and loading/offloading systems to assess operational lifespan, safety readiness, and equipment integrity
• Underwater inspections coordinated with professional divers, requiring precise execution and strict safety management in offshore conditions
Despite tight deadlines, the operation was executed with rigorous planning and close coordination between field teams, inspection engineers, and quality control personnel.
Dexon played a critical role in getting the vessel certified safe and operational prior to entering service at the Nong Yao production field in the Gulf of Thailand.
The inspection demonstrates Dexon's abilities in conducting complex, high-stakes inspections under challenging offshore conditions, reinforcing Dexon’s reputation as a trusted partner to global energy clients—whatever the challenge.
