Dexon’s story begins, as all great tales do, with a 1,200kg pig floating in the Indian Ocean.
No, not the curly-tailed kind. This was a 42-inch pipeline inspection tool equipped with buoyant foam and a rotary ultrasonic testing (UT) system.
This surreal sight was the result of six months of intense engineering, late nights, and global teamwork, marking the beginning of what would become the Dexon Technology of today, 29 years later.

The journey began with a request from a gold mining company in Indonesia. Their slurry pipeline discharged into the ocean, and regulators required an inspection to ensure the line was sound. These lines are notorious for fast wear due to the abrasion of rocky materials, and operators must take care to avoid a rupture.
Dexon (though we did not have that name just yet) was tasked with inspecting the line to measure wall thickness and detect any early-stage leaks.
𝗦𝗶𝘅 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵
Dexon’s founder Martin Stuvik teamed up with Dr. Konstantin Nikitin, an ultrasonic physicist, to take on the challenge. Together, they assembled a five-person international team of engineers.
With only six months, the team raced to design, build, and test a completely new inspection tool. They had a working prototype after five months. The final month was spent refining and testing until launch day.

The tool launched through the slurry line and emerged floating triumphantly in the Indian Ocean. Few things have brought more joy than seeing that giant pig bobbing in the surf.
The data passed inspection standards. A satisfied client received their report. And just like that, Dexon’s first inspection was in the books.
𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝘂𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴-𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿
The client was so impressed that they purchased the tool outright. Today, Dexon continues to support inspections of the same slurry line four times a year, building on a relationship that’s now more than two decades strong.
𝗦𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀
This project set the tone for everything Dexon would become: a company built on ambition, innovation, and the determination to deliver, no matter the challenge.
29 years later, that spirit has continued on, from the jungles of Indonesia to offshore platforms and desert pipelines.
